Neapolis archaeological park (Syracuse)
In addition to the traditional visiting routes, since 2021, during peak months, additional trails are also open leading to the Cordari and Salnitro grotto, as well as the new path that leads to the Santa Venera stone quarry with the centuries-old fig tree and the so-called tomb of Archimedes. The classic monumental route inside the Neapolis archaeological park allows visitors to admire the Greek theater, the Latomia del Paradiso with the Ear of Dionysius and the Cordari grotto, the altar of Hiero II, and the Roman amphitheater. Below are the latest updates regarding the opening hours of the Neapolis Park.
During the spring and summer period, theatrical performances and concerts take place inside the Greek theater and the quarries, and therefore part of the archaeological area is covered by stage sets, and the theater's seating is covered with wooden seats.
Note: currently the extended path of the park, containing the latomia of Santa Venera, the centuries-old fig tree, and the so-called "tomb of Archimedes," is closed to the public.
