In recent years, beside the nmost famous tourist attractions, visitors have increasingly sought to rediscover the Italian "borghi", the small, quiet villages in the countryside, still far away from mass tourism and able to offer authentic experiences and flavors. In this context, the initiative "The Treasures of Buccheri," promoted by the small town in the province of Siracusa, fits perfectly. Buccheri is located at the foot of Monte Lauro, the highest point in the province of Siracusa, just a short distance from the Baroque town of Palazzolo Acreide and the open-air museum of Buscemi. It is a small town that offers visitors good restaurants, pleasant walks in the surrounding woods, views of traditional snow pits from which the tradition of Sicilian granita originates, and the remains of a medieval castle around which the Medfest takes place every August.
Below is the program sent by the tourist office regarding the event "The Treasures of Buccheri," which will take place on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th October 2024. For more information, please contact the Municipality of Buccheri directly.
